Olive Oil (Olea Europaea)

Olive oil is a fat obtained by grinding whole tree-ripened olives and extracting the oil by mechanical or chemical means.

The advantages of olive oil are not just limited to inside the body.  High in oleic acid and rich in vitamin E, it is a good skin cell regenerator.  It naturally conditions and moisturizes the skin without clogging pores and is believed to contribute to skin elasticity.  Olive oil contains Hydroxytyrosol, an antioxidant not found in any other oils.

Olive oil is one of the most-used fixed oils in soap making, and soap made from 100% olive oil is called Castile soap.  Olive oil makes a hard bar of soap, with low lathering ability.  It is long-lasting, extremely mild, and preferred by many with sensitive skin.

Little Owl Soap’s signature soap recipe combines olive oil with shea butter, coconut oil, and castor oil.  We also offer an unscented and colorant-free 100% olive oil Castile soap for those with sensitive skin.
